How did you get started in wakesurfing?
I was introduced to wakesurfing through my partner, Mack Tharpe, in 2017. It took me a whole summer to stand up on the board, but by July 2018, I finally dropped the rope.
What is your favorite thing about wakesurfing?
I love the incredible community of people I've met, the constant progression, and the joy of sharing the sport with others.
What board are you surfing and why?
I ride the Pure Wakesurf Clutch, a fast, responsive, and forgiving board that's perfect for tricks.
Who are your biggest influences in the sport?
Mack Tharpe, Evan Feierabend, Kennon Owensby, and the entire Pure Wakesurf team have been incredible mentors and inspirations.
What are your biggest strengths/weaknesses as a wakesurfer?
My enthusiasm and dedication to the sport are my biggest strengths. However, my age and less-than-athletic build can sometimes limit my physical abilities.
What is your favorite trick?
The no-hand stall 360, a trick I taught myself due to a knee injury.
What is your training regimen like? Do you surf all year or seasonal?
We typically surf from March to November, with increased frequency during the summer months.
If you could wakesurf anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I'd love to surf in Dubai with my friend Rasha, who we introduced to freshwater surfing.
Who do you surf with?
I primarily surf with Mack, our kids, grandkids, and countless friends we've introduced to the sport.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Watch tutorials on getting up and dropping the rope. We learned the hard way!
What is your favorite wakesurfing memory?
Competing, meeting new people, and the camaraderie of the Pure Wakesurf team.
What would your wakesurfing superhero name be?
The Spinning Grandma!
If you could have any celebrity join you for a wakesurf session, who would it be and why?
Jason Kelce and his family. They seem fun, adventurous, and would embrace the water.
What does being part of the Pure Wakesurf team mean to you?
It means being part of a supportive and encouraging family, always striving for improvement, and sharing the joy of wakesurfing with others.
